Sussex Gardeners
Since 1937
A Delaware Federated Garden Club
History and Mission
Founded in 1937, The Sussex Gardeners is one of the oldest garden clubs in the U.S.! It is a member of the Federation of Garden Clubs and part of The National Garden Clubs, Inc., Central Atlantic Region. Its mission is to bring together members of the community who have an interest in the fine art of gardening, landscape design, floral design and horticulture. Its community outreach includes programs in garden therapy, conservation and civic beautification.
The current thirty active members meet each third Thursday of the month September through June at the Rehoboth Beach Public Library (2nd floor). Meetings include programs of interest to the group by guest presenters and are free and open to the public.

Our official logo, shown above, was designed in 1955 by Mrs. Leslie Knapp, a charter member of the Sussex Gardeners.
The image that appears next to "History and Mission" is an acrylic painting titled "One Summer Day," by Club Member Nancy Katz It will serve as the cover art for this year's Program Booklet.
